Heather Kurzbauer (JD/LLM) was educated at Yale University (Bachelors of Arts, cum laude; Master’s Degree, with Honors) and the University of Amsterdam Law Faculty.
Ms. Kurzbauer served as Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (Peace Palace) from 2000-2004. She is currently a senior law lecturer at the University of Amsterdam, Visiting Professor of International Arbitration law at Case Western Reserve University (USA) and a Visiting Faculty member at the Riga Graduate School of Law (Latvia).
Combining academic disciplines with music at the professional level, she is privileged to have performed with leading orchestras in the Netherlands (Royal Concertgebouw; Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and Radio Chamber Orchestra) and at international summer music festivals. Ms. Kurzbauer joined the first violin section of Sinfonia Rotterdam in 2015.
Starting her journalistic career as member of the editorial board at Portfolio Magazine (New York) Ms. Kurzbauer served as Corresponding Editor and European correspondent at Strad Magazine (London) for over two decades. She is an active blogger @violinist.com and a welcome lecturer at music competitions and festivals worldwide.
Ms. Kurzbauer was awarded the 2016 Hijmans Scholarship for PhD research on governance and orchestral labor relations and is honored to contribute to several Dutch-based expert committees on cultural funding and labor relations.
